I’m Tui, a Kāi Tahu creative originally from Southland, working across illustration, design, and clay.

Inspired by Te Waipounamu, I help others around the motu to visualise their stories, and especially enjoy projects that promote relief, for both people and place.

When selecting an artist to create a mural depicting the history of Renwick for the museum, we interviewed three possible candidates and Tui was the only one who truely understood what we were trying to achieve. The resulting mural along two full walls of the museum has not only transformed the museum exterior but many say the town centre itself - it can only be described as a monumental and beautiful work of art carried out in the midst of the pandemic. I would not hesitate to recommend Tui to anyone who is looking to create art that makes a difference. P.S. we also were moved to purchase several of her art works as well.
